What we do

The exciting world of Fashion, Sport, Lifestyle, Landscapes, Magazines and Newspapers all form part of the Photographic and Media industry. The National Diploma in Photography offers you this exciting opportunity to explore both traditional and digital mediums across the broad range of areas.

The course offers you the chance to gain the skills that you will need to become a competent practitioner in areas of Art and Design Photography. With live projects and fun but challenging briefs the well resourced photographic facility, enables the creation of a variety photography and image making.

The course supports many new technologies within photography, with importance placed on image making, visual studies and its relevance in the world of media.

What you do


Year one offers core units in Photography including Design Methods, Computers in Art and Design, Darkroom Practice and Contextual Studies. Students have a further opportunity to enhance their study area by pursuing an A level in Graphics and Key skills.

In year 2, specialist units cover a wide range of competences from, Location Photography, Studio Photography and a Final Major Project, which culminates in an exhibition of your work.

You will learn through project briefs, lectures, group and personal tutorials, and through these you will develop your creative skills in camera operation, computer technologies, darkroom practices and studio assignments.

 

 

What you can do next


On successful completion of the course you will have gained the necessary skills to progress to Higher Education within Bradford College or alternatively you could enter industry with relevant knowledge and understanding of your specialist subject

Entry Requirements

Age at entry 16+
BTEC First Diploma or GNVQ Intermediate in Art and Design or 4 GCSEs at C or above.
A portfolio of photography, art, media or design related work.
All applicants are interviewed by a specialist tutor.
All applicants will be required to provide a satisfactory reference.
