
BTEC Foundation Diploma in Art and Design
Introduction
This course is designed for students who want to build a career in Art, Design or Craft and want to progress to Degree or HND level study. The programme will give you the opportunity to try six practical techniques. At the same time you will have lectures from working artists and designers as well as an overview of Art History and Contemporary Practice in a range of areas. As the course progresses, you will determine which processes interest you most and build skills in these areas, producing a portfolio of work for Higher Education application.
How Will I Learn?
By experiential blocks in 1 week sessions in each of the following disciplines:
Painting
Fashion/Textiles
Graphics
3D
Printing
Photography

What Next?
This course is primarily aimed at students wishing to progress to Higher Education to develop a career path in art, design and other creative industries. Most students progress to the first year of a Higher National Diploma or Degree programmes. We have accreditation arrangements with Manchester Metropolitan and Salford Universities and special arrangements for students wishing to progress onto degrees at Bradford College.
On successful completion of the course, you will receive a National Diploma in Foundation Studies and an AS award in Critical and Contextual studies.
