Postgraduate Diploma/MA in Visual Culture

Duration: One year full-time or two years part time

The significance of visual representation in a world which is increasingly pervaded by visual imagery that can transmit into every part of our lives is an exciting arena for discussion and analysis. Film culture in particular is recognised as having a special significance for visual and cultural analysis. This course provides students with the research skills and methodological tools with which to develop independent research into aspects of visual culture. Bradford School of Art intends to offer a new Masters Degree in Visual Arts (Cultural Studies) (subject to validation) which will replace this programme.

Course Content

The course operates within a semester system, the academic year being from October to October. The Postgraduate Diploma (Stage 1) course operates for eighteen months including the summer vacation period. Completion of the MA Degree (Stage 2) requires an additional six months. Certain modules are shared between the two awards.
